Scott Ritter: "SURGING TOWARD TEHRAN: America's Iraq Debacle and the Danger of War with Iran" - Wednesday, June 4, 7:30 PM, Knox United Church
Scott Ritter, former US Marine and US arms inspector in Iraq will talk on "SURGING TOWARD TEHRAN: America's Iraq Debacle, and the Danger of War with Iran". Presented by the William Irvine Group and Knox United Centre.
The presentation will provide an assessment of the "surge" currently underway in Iraq, highlighting why the surge is failing (despite US policymakers contention) and why the failure of the surge actually increases the risk of conflict between US and Iran. Scott Ritter was the US weapons inspector prior to the 2003 invasion of Iraq.
Wed. June 4, 2008, 7:30 PM, Knox United Church, 506 4th St. SW.
No admission charge, donations gratefully accepted.

UU Women's Gathering - July 4-6, Lumsden, Saskatchewan |
As the days grow longer and brighter, and the warmth of the sun returns to kiss away the snow, our thoughts naturally turn to the 22nd UU Women's Gathering coming in July. This year's theme, "Spinning our Lives", will reflect, in many ways, our coming together as we gather from across the prairies to weave our own special kind of magic together.
From swaddling to shroud, diapers to doilies, our lives are woven together with fabric. Its creation from antiquity was primarily women's work. Women gathered together in community to labour, and to share skills, stories, and traditions. Just as women passed on the textiles they made, so they handed down the wisdom reflected in our culture and history.
We invite you to join us for a weekend of stories, discussion, play, dance, and of course fabric arts, as we trace the threads of our own personal relationship with cloth and discover how our stories come together in the tapestry of all our lives.
More information and registration forms will be available in April/May, but please feel free to email if you have any questions or comments. Calgary contact: Shiela Ward.
